Every September and October brings a whole new round of shows to watch — some great, some mediocre at best, some destined to be canceled before ever airing a fourth episode. Here are the five I’m most looking forward to catching (and, oddly enough, most of them seem to be on NBC).

Blindspot

Jane Doe (Jamie Alexander, AKA Lady Sif from the Thor series) wakes up in the middle of Times Square with absolutely no memory of who she is — and her body covered in tattoos, including the name of an FBI agent. If it sounds a bit like Memento, you’re right. And we’re still interested in this action/thriller, because Memento was fascinating, and Alexander is a total BOSS.

Premieres tonight (Monday) at 10 p.m., NBC

Superstore

It’s a show about the goings-on of employees at a super, mega, big box store. You may dismiss this as mundane, but think about other films of this ilk: The Office, Office Space, Employee of the Month. Okay, maybe not that last one, but with America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) as the lead, it’s totally worth a shot.

Listed as “coming soon” to NBC

Limitless

This follow-up to the 2011 movie promises cameos from the film’s star, Bradley Cooper — score! — as it follows Brian Finch’s (Jake McDorman) journey from average joe to brainiac after discovering a drug that allows him to use more of his brain’s capacity.

Premieres tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10 p.m. on CBS

Heroes Reborn

You’ve already heard about some of the questions we hope the show will finally answer, but really, we’re looking forward to the reboot even if they ignore those loose ends. In Heroes Reborn, people with special powers are in hiding after being blamed for a terrorist attack in Odessa, TX.

Premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. on NBC

Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris

If anyone can revive the variety show, it’s NPH. The live show features skits, musical numbers, celebrity guests and other challenges. Basically, it’s a great way to veg out after a loooong day.

Airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on NBC (You may have to DVR or catch one show on Hulu, since it’s on at the same time as Limitless.)

Are there any shows we should add to the must-watch list? What will you be watching this fall?
