It’s hard to resist free swag. Especially as you’re staring at pages and pages of search results for baby gear, all revealing thousands of things that are suddenly new parent must-haves for surviving life with an infant. All I saw were dollar signs — and felt a little overwhelmed at what I needed to buy versus what I should buy.

A few friends and family members who have recently had kids helped me finally figure out my baby registry, and when I signed up on Amazon, I noticed they offered a free welcome box for new parents. At first, I ignored it, until a friend told me it’s absolutely worth taking the extra steps to claim (which involves making $10+ in purchases from the registry, being an Amazon Prime member, and checking off that you at least considered every category of baby gear when you made your registry with the site). I figured I’d go along with it, but I was truly stunned at what came in the mail.

What comes in Amazon's 2018 Baby Registry Box

The site claimed it’s a $35 value, and the contents didn’t disappoint. Here’s a breakdown of what’s inside the 2018 box:

Considering all it took was an extra 5 minutes on my part (and, admittedly, signing up for a one-month trial of Amazon Prime), the box was totally worth it. Based on reviews, the contents seem to change every few months, but the general breakdown seems to be the same: baby bottle, two onesies, swaddle, baby wipes, diaper samples, hygiene products.
