I’ve long been a fan of Reese Witherspoon‘s breezy-yet-polished, preppy Draper James line, but I’ll be honest: The only item I’ve ever owned was a beach towel. As enchanting as the Nashville store was, when I saw the clothes up close, many had a lightweight, fast fashion feel; like Francesca, only at twice the price. I wasn’t sure they’d hold up. Then, Draper James launched a line at Kohl’s, Draper James RSVP, and after seeing the styles, I decided to give it a shot. Two dresses later, I’m officially a fan girl—and ready to give Draper James proper a full shot.

The Puff-Sleeve Dress, $58

Here’s the lowdown on the Kohl’s-exclusive Draper James RSVP line:

What’s the Quality of the Clothes Like?

I bought two dresses—the Puff Sleeve Shirt Dress (currently on sale for $28!) and Bow-Strap Midi Dress—and both are well-lined, with a sturdy rayon-linen blend. There’s a heft to them, so they hold their shape, aren’t see-through and are less prone to Marilyn Monroe moments with the slightest breeze in the air (like cheaper, Forever 21-ish sundresses).

How Does Draper James RSVP Fit?

Should you size up? Size down? I’ve found they run true to size, with a medium being about an 8 to 10. Sometimes, dresses like these have shorter hemlines to justify the lower price points, making them impossible to wear if you’re tall (like me).

The puff sleeve dress hits mid-thigh, but it isn’t uncomfortably short, so you can bend and move without worrying. The Midi, as you might expect, hits below the knee, but thankfully not at the widest part of your calf (which can make you look stumpy). Nothing digs in; it’s all very comfortable.

How do the RSVP Prices Compare to the Main Draper James Line?

The aesthetic is very similar to the main Draper James line, only the prices are about $100 less* (expect to spend about $50 to $80 per dress). It’s still pricier than your typical Kohl’s find, but in true Kohl’s fashion, the line is often on sale and eligible for Kohl’s Cash (aka money you can spend in the stores or online during certain dates).

*Note: The one exception to this is when Draper James hosts a final sale. You can score extreme discounts—like this $98 midi dress for $39—but sizes are pretty limited and if it’s marked “final sale” or the price ends in $9, you can’t return it if it’s not a good fit, per the company’s return policy.

The Verdict:

I love how instantly polished I feel in both dresses, and how comfortable they are. They’re as cozy as pajamas, only far more flattering. I’d definitely buy more pieces from the collection in the future.
